I also really want to add panel molding! The extension mirror collection is not quite doing what I want it too - unless I get say 10 more. I need to break up the long wall, and add some detail. I may or may not add the mirrors back - they may move next to the vanity, I'm not sure yet.
I don't have any designer images to show you what I mean - so far the best image Ihave is in this insulation ad - this is exactly what I'd like to to - but only above the weird chair rail in my bath. I love the rounded turned in corners, and I plan on painting the molding the same as the wall color.

I did some looking around the internet and HGTV has a basic tutorial and an example of a pretty unique horizontal installation.

I'm excited to get to home depot and price it out - I don't think it will be that much, however buying low VOC paint is going to be expensivo!

I have similar faint grout line impressions under paint in my bathroom. At first, like you, I was horrified that the landlord would paint over tiles that way. However, on closer inspection, it appears to be an impression that was made in the plaster walls, perhaps with the intention of faking the look of tiles on the cheap.
ReplyDeleteI'm looking forward to seeing your after pics as I have yet to figure out how to make my bathroom walls look good.
Wow - I've never heard of tile impressions in plaster, I'm not too sure I'd like it.
ReplyDeleteI've definately got 50's plastic tiles under that paint - I thought about stripping the paint to see what they look like, but I can tell that a lot of them are cracked and broken, so it'll be fill and paint.
have you ever thought of mounting all the extension mirrors clustered from the ceiling so they can all hang down vertically? I think that would be fantastic! And, if in a dressing area, you could use the extensions to hang and display necklaces and earrings.. just a thought!
ReplyDeleteHi Susan, that's an awesome idea for the mirrors - I have them in a drawer right now - I'm considering putting them somewhere else in the apt - after re-painting the bathroom, I'm really liking it simple and un-adorned.
