Accordion Lamps

I'm currently collecting accordion mirrors for my bathroom, and while digging around for some on the internet, I found a great deal on this accordion lamp!

Only $22.50 from Micro Mark.

It's not as designed as some of the other more expensive versions, but it would still be awesome as a bedside lamp, desk lamp, or on either side of a couch? Ooo, the possibilities. You could also spray paint it and get an edison bulb.......

Here are some others:

White Version from Affordable Products (though I don't see how to order)

PBteen Lumi (disccontinued - boo.)

Accordion Library Sconce from ZFurniture.com

I Heart the Seventies: More Inspiration

I was sick all weekend and didn't get to do any of the projects I wanted, but I did get plenty of time to go through some of my vintage sewing books. I had to share some of the awesome interiors used in the home decor sections of the books.

I started a set in my Flickr for these: 60s-70s diy books: interiors I have some others to scan and add yet.....

Playskool Animal Alphabet Part Two

I added my scans of the backs to my flickr account - see the whole set here.

I love the negative space "typeface" that these create, and my next step is to (hopefully) actually make a typeface - trying out one of the free font creator programs out there. Woo!

Rabbit, Jaguar, Whale

The Bazaarium

How delighted to discover that Wilhelm Staehle has a shop!

The Bazaarium

I've been a fan of the Silhouette Masterpiece Theater, and now I can buy prints (framed!) for $30.

Not to mention the soaps! cheeky!

Playskool Animal Alphabet Part One

About 2 weeks ago - I found a set of Playskool Alphabet Animals from 1973! I love the stylized animals, and the cute 70's design. Each animal has the name on the front, and on the back, there is a letter shaped "hole" to place plastic letters in, teaching kids to match the letters to the animal.

I shot all 26 animals (and letter x) and made a flickr set - check them out here.

Here are some of my favorites - next post is the backs!!!

The Small Things

Over the summer I picked up a used dresser at a thrift store for $20 - it was a blond colored laminate/wood mix, with some nicks & dings, but it had great lines, so I picked it up. I painted the whole thing in semi-gloss white, and spray painted the existing hardware yellow because it was the only spray paint I had in the house at the time.

The small yellow handles always bothered me a bit and at IKEA on Saturday, I bought 3 sets of ANNARS handles in white. These handles are genius because they cover any existing holes! The original handles were very narrow, and I knew it would be tough to find new ones that I liked which were the same size.

So I removed the old handles, measured for new holes, and drilled. I used some leftover spackle to fill the old holes, let it dry, then sanded and a quick coat of paint, and attached the new ones! It took me maybe 40 minutes with drying time.

The look so sleek and crisp! I also found some small white round knobs to match at IKEA, and I love the look of the entire dresser being white. Sometimes the smallest change makes a huge difference!

The ANNARS also come in red, and in a narrower, knob style. They are solid and heavy - with a nice shiny powdercoat.

Sorry for the crappy pics - nighttime shots....
